In the recent Charlie Rose Show on the Brain, many of the best scientists including a Nobel Prize winner, discussed how our behavior is strongly influenced by genetic factors. Epigenetic is probably a more accurate term.
Charlie Rose also talked about Autism who are unable to mirror the behavior of others and read motives in people from their facial expressions. These brainy people concluded that Autism is genetic and involves hundreds of genes. Shows how some of the Brightest and knowledgeable can make such a stupid comment. I may be stupid, but I have an open mind. I will discuss Autism in the near future.
When Autism goes up Six FOLD IN THE 1990s, correlating with with introduction of sunscreens lowering our vitamin D in all of America with at least half seriously deficient using the old level considered healthy in the past because we were able to store several months of vitamin D during the summer. The New York Times had an ignorant assessment of vitamin D according to a letter from a medical doctor. SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG AND IT IS NOT GENETIC. The AP article about Autism is much more complete. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_MED_AUTISM_MOTHERS_AGE?SITE=OREUG&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT
President Obama made a huge mistake in thinking that the current radical Republican Party is amenable to compromise and he is still making that mistake. He would be stupid not to make recess appointments. Remember Bush loaded up many of the Civil Service jobs with his buddies regardless of qualification. They are good sources for leaks and sabotage.
The appointment of LaHood and Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) were mistakes. His choice for Attorney General and Blair (National Security CIA/NSA/FBI head) were also mistakes. The latter criticized the Obama administration in the handling of the Christmas bomber, but Brennan, national security advisor to five Presidents, brings out the lies by the Republicans who were briefed quickly and at that time they did not object to what was done. http://countdown.msnbc.com
Former Senator Tancredo (CO) once again promoted racism at the Tea Party Convention to great cheers. Rachel gives a few example of the questions in 1965 when the Civil Rights Act was passed and eliminated literacy tests by a great President Johnson. Rachel's must see video shows clearly how racism is becoming more and more open. Professor Ogletree of Harvard talked about asking the Black voter to guess how many marbles were in a jar! I could not answer sample literacy questions Rachel found on the Internet in 1965. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/
Facts rarely reported: The mechanics on Car Talk on NPR www.cartalk.com explained the real truth about the problems with Toyota.
One they said all the accelerators in newer cars have electronic accelerators. Two they said the number of failures of sticking are extremely small and would be hard to detect. 19 deaths and 2000 injured and we do not know precisely what caused the accelerator problem. The driver which happens fairly frequently or Toyota part or both which seems more reasonable.
The plastic shim used in the accelerator is made by an Indiana company whose performance has been quite good and they are now replacing the plastic shim with a steel one which is least likely to vary and is less likely to distort.
The brake problem in the 2010 models of the Prius is due to a software mistake by an American company because the computer control is not Toyotas. Americans cars licensed the Toyota hydride system in cars such as the Ford Fusion. A software fix for the brake system has already been done and it will take less than 30 minutes for the fix. If you have a problem go immediately to your dealer which is quite complex because when we brake, the battery is charged. The rug problem is Toyota's fault.
If you are shopping for a Toyota Prius 2010 model, go ahead and make a deal now and you might get a much lower price. The same with other Toyota models. Just like the stock market, buy low when no one wants to buy.
