Politics Power & Wealth Keeping Facts from Americans Leads to Control

Zakaria CNN Interviews China’s Premier Wen Jiabao, Engineer, Geologists

http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/fareed.zakaria.gps/

Premier Wen Jiabao doesn’t interview Western Journalists very often. The last time was when Fareed interviewed him 2 years ago. Jiabao speaks perfect English, but in this interview on Sunday he spoke in Mandarin. Premier Wen is very well read of English works such as Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith. Wen pointed out that Fareed did not understand how China was running the economy. As I knew, Wen is trying to give a safety net to a large majority of Chinese who are living a life worst than subsistence due to China’s form of Capitalism which favored government owned factories.

Many living in most of China no longer have free schools and healthcare and cannot afford the money for these so-called services. Because the Chinese government controls the media and newspapers, very little of what is going on gets out because of restrictions put on Western reporters. We get the news, but few realize that our news is also tainted by corporations and government. Sure we have more freedom here to know what is happening, but it takes effort.

Always remember that Fareed Zakaria is a member of the establishment with a Ph.D. From Harvard under Samuel Huntington who wrote the infamous document “Crisis in Democracy” in 1975 for the Trilateral Commission heads of states and supporting cast of the “right” CEOs, journalists and professors in the USA, Europe, and Japan to control “Democracy” because of the freedom and the exposure of our CIA by Senator Church. Bill Clinton also had a Trilateral type of education too at Georgetown. His favorite professor, Carroll Quigley, wrote a world history book which was based on the work of the Trilateral Commission which is pushed by the Right Wing about world domination. They were right.

"Among us today a concentration of private power without equal in history is growing."

Franklin Delano Roosevelt

http://www.truthoffering.com/conspiracy/2010/4/12/the-quigley-formula.html Videos

After Jeb Bush and the Supreme Court stole the election from Al Gore in 2000, I finally decided that I should get a political education. Just logic alone without information is useless. What sounds right from the New York Times could be just the opposite. Background information is necessary to accurately interpret what is seen in newspapers, magazines, and television. Reading all points of views which I did helped me enormously. Each view looked convincing by itself if I read nothing else. With the internet and Google Scholar, you can read many books free. Then search the net to see if there are contradictory views.

One book Tragedy and Hope by Carroll Quigley, Bill Clinton’s favorite Georgetown Professor took about 6 months to get from Amazon.com because the powerful essentially removed it from circulation. I did not know then that the Right Wing websites had plenty of copies of this book to support their amazingly correct conspiracy theories about what the government and corporations wanted was a world government. They did not know that corporations control of governments was the conspiracy.

The widespread use of propaganda to control the way we think started before World War I where President Wilson successfully changed the antiwar mentality of Americans using widespread propaganda against the Huns and Unions. The top journalists approved of keeping Americans ignorant. They are too dumb to understand the information. More likely they will understand they are being screwed.

A union leader was sent to jail for ten years when he spoke against going to War. Professors lost their jobs when they spoke against the war. In spite of the Republican efforts, it is more open now, but such laws as the Patriot Act and government being able to put people including American citizens in jail without charging them or allowing lawyers to represent them or even telling their families what happened to them is still in place. No matter the Party, the powerful always wants more power and give it up reluctantly.

Here is an excerpted customer review of the book on www.amazon.com

Former President Clinton said in 1992: "...As a student at Georgetown, I heard that call clarified by a professor named Carroll Quigley, who said to us that America was the greatest country in the history of the world because our people have always believed in two things: that tomorrow can be better than today and that every one of us has a personal, moral responsibility to make it so."

Unfortunately, Dr. Quigley revealed the game plan of the elite when the elite (a shy group by nature and not at all given to republican government) didn't want it publicized. Far from wanting to hide this "network" (as he called it), Quigley was proud of it.

"I know of the operations of this network because I have studied it for twenty years and was permitted for two years, in the early 1960's, to examine its papers and secret records. I have no aversion to it or to most of its aims and have, for much of my life, been close to it and to many of its instruments. I have objected, both in the past and recently, to a few of its policies...but in general my chief difference of opinion is that it wishes to remain unknown, and I believe its role in history is significant enough to be known."

Thus, unfortunately, Tragedy and Hope was pulled from bookshelves nationwide and recalled faster than an exploding Easter Bunny, never to be published again, except for a highly abbreviated edition. But if you can pick up a copy of this book, you'll find how things often worked behind the scenes of government and the worldwide ambitions of "the network."

If you simply want to know about the network and how it operated up until this book was published, I recommend Dr. W. Cleon Skousen's "Naked Capitalist," which I believe is still in print.

Politics, Republicans Use Confirmation Bias Lies to Win Elections by Limiting Sources

Tags: Politics, Republicans Use Confirmation Bias Lies to Win Elections by Limiting Sources

Right Wing Smears Michelle Obama As A Modern ‘Marie Antoinette,’ Pushes Lies About Cost Of The Trip

With the Right Wing Internet websites and FOX News, it is possible to limit news available to the public by both by being first with the lie and denying that it is a lie. Americans have been lied to by the Corporate Press/Media so often that they lack credibility to a large segment of Americans.

Effective Propaganda succeeds by many repetitions of a lie many times as the Nazis and corporations do very effectively in ads for products and candidates. Trust Us We're Experts is a book all must read. Five Corporations largely control what we see, hear, and read. Even the more sophisticated Americans not swayed by so-called experts have difficulty fighting back. I am amazed at how easily all Americans are fooled by our press and media even though they know they often lie. That is why repetition of even something we know is a lie has an emotional effect to undermine our confidence that what we know is true.

Why don't the Democrats use the same techniques of lying and denying it is a lie by mentioning a source.

I don't always succeed in being skeptical of the news, but I try to ask myself, what is their angle? Yes, my dear, the New York Times lies more than the Wall Street Journal, and both lie a lot. More people now read their feature-entertainment pages instead of the news.

The Limits of Reason: Why evolution may favor irrationality.

http://www.newsweek.com/2010/08/05/the-limits-of-reason.html

Sharon Begley, Newsweek, August 5, 2010

… An idea sweeping through the ranks of philosophers and cognitive scientists suggests why this is so. The reason we succumb to confirmation bias, why we are blind to counterexamples, and why we fall short of Cartesian logic in so many other ways is that these lapses have a purpose: they help us “devise and evaluate arguments that are intended to persuade other people,” says psychologist Hugo Mercier of the University of Pennsylvania. Failures of logic, he and cognitive scientist Dan Sperber of the Institut Jean Nicod in Paris propose, are in fact effective ploys to win arguments. … http://www.newsweek.com/2010/08/05/the-limits-of-reason.html

Women are bad drivers, Saddam plotted 9/11, Obama was not born in America, and Iraq had weapons of mass destruction: to believe any of these requires suspending some of our critical--thinking faculties and succumbing instead to the kind of irrationality that drives the logically minded crazy.

It helps, for instance, to use confirmation bias (seeing and recalling only evidence that supports your beliefs, so you can recount examples of women driving 40mph in the fast lane).

It also helps not to test your beliefs against empirical data (where, exactly, are the WMD, after seven years of U.S. forces crawling all over Iraq?); not to subject beliefs to the plausibility test (faking Obama’s birth certificate would require how widespread a conspiracy?); and to be guided by emotion (the loss of thousands of American lives in Iraq feels more justified if we are avenging 9/11).

The fact that humans are subject to all these failures of rational thought seems to make no sense. Reason is supposed to be the highest achievement of the human mind, and the route to knowledge and wise decisions. But as psychologists have been documenting since the 1960s, humans are really, really bad at reasoning.

It’s not just that we follow our emotions so often, in contexts from voting to ethics. No, even when we intend to deploy the full force of our rational faculties, we are often as ineffectual as eunuchs at an orgy. … http://www.newsweek.com/2010/08/05/the-limits-of-reason.html

http://thinkprogress.org/2010/08/09/michelle-vacatoin/ In recent days, right-wing commentators have launched a series of attacks on First Lady Michelle Obama for going on vacation in Spain with her daughter Sasha and a small number of family friends. Some of the most vicious attacks:

– New York Daily News columnist Andrea Tantaros wrote that the “material girl” Michelle Obama is a “modern-day Marie Antoinette,” and that the Obamas “seem to fancy themselves more along the lines of international celebrities than actual leaders.”

– CNN’s Erick Erickson also wondered “How long before the Marie Antoinette comparisons start?”

– American Thinker’s Ralph Alter claimed that the “pampered” Michelle Obama has taken “maximum advantage” of her “unlimited expense account as first lady.”

– In a post titled “Michelle Obama Kicks It Euro-Style,” the blog Newsbusters called Michelle a “petty, selfish woman.”

– Mickey Kaus even speculated the trip could be the result of trouble in the Obama’s marriage.

Most of the attacks are based on the premise that the First Lady’s trip is costing American taxpayers money. Glenn Bleck told listeners that the trip “is costing you $75,000 a day,” and Tarantos claimed that Michelle Obama was bringing along “40 of her ‘closest friends.’”

Because the right wing has propagated so much misinformation about the size and cost of the First Lady’s trip, the Chicago Sun-Times’ Lynn Sweet published an article setting the record straight today. First, Michelle Obama brought only Sasha (Malia is at summer camp) along with two close friends, each of whom also brought their daughters. Second, the entire group paid for their own lodging and personal expenses. The New York Times reported that Michelle even reimbursed the government for the equivalent of two first-class commercial tickets for the flight on Air Force Two. (Her friends flew separately, on commercial flights). Finally, most of the rooms booked at her hotel in Spain belonged to Secret Service agents, and as Sweet wrote, “No matter where she goes — domestic or international — any first lady gets protection and she does not decide how many agents are needed.”

These right-wing commentators were curiously silent when the Bush family took vacations. The New York Times noted that Laura Bush took a vacation every year of her husband’s presidency, with Secret Service agents and a government plane. Also, Media Matters calculated the cost of President Bush’s frequent trips to his ranch in Crawford, TX, Camp David, and the family compound in Kennebunkport — he took more vacation time than any president — and put the tab at $20 million for air travel only.

These facts have not stopped the right-wing commentators from going into overdrive on this story, however. Perhaps they need a vacation.

How Has the Economic Well-Being of the Middle-Class (< $85,000/yr.) Fared from 1971 to 2007?

Two topics are covered in this blog. One is our financial system harming the middleclass and the other is that our politicians are ignoring the real wishes of the American People. Jim

Professor Elizabeth Warren of Harvard co-author of "The Two-Income Trap: Why Middle-Class Mothers & Fathers are Going Broke" and "The Big Squeeze" Tough Times for the American Worker," Steven Greenhouse of the NY Times delineate how the Republicans changed the equality game starting with Nixon who put in place our current healthcare system where corporations make money by denying expensive care. Corporate Healthcare wanted even more so they started denying routine tests, but the consumer storm made then back-off.

The Republican Congress passed the bills to essentially strip any protections for consumers and placed either lobbyists and incompetents in the SEC and other regulating agencies such as the Federal Reserve. The start of the new season of Damages staring Glenn Close is a must see at the beginning of the new season, a superb actor, a strong supporting cast,at 10 and 11 PM ET/PT on FX cable, tackles the complexities of the Madoff billions of dollars fraud. It is Law & Order that goes a whole season to resolve itself so it goes into complexities that Law & Order cannot handle in one episode. I caught it last season in the middle so I had to really think hard to find out what was really happening. Don't Miss !!.

The result of Republican congress since 1994, bad filibuster rule requiring 60 votes in the senate to vote on any bill, made President Clinton weak, Bill Clinton's staff effectively shut out the influence of Hillary Clinton by not telling her about crucial meetings and the extraordinary influence of his financial advisors Summers, Rubin of Goldman Sachs, and weekly meetings with Alan Greenspan made it possible to dispose of the regulatory Glass-Steagal Act passed during the Great Depression to prevent financial manipulations.

When Bill Clinton at the behest of Hillary Clinton vetoed the Bank enrichment bill, wealth and power including the New York Times started putting false scandals such as Whitewater and used the Lewinsky sex scandal to give him a message not to double-cross wealth and power! The greatly weakened Bill Clinton sign the Glass-Steagal Act and more bank deregulation bills that allowed banks to merge with investment banks and insurance companies. These Republican bills that started us on the road to financial armageddon. Super fast computers such as the one by Goldman Sachs makes individual investors and even Mutual Funds at peril.

Investments: Growth is going to be slow in the USA as long as a decade because of the financial harm these crooked bankers and hedge funds did to our economy which was largely a Financial Economy. History shows us that financial economies always fail as the greed meter gets higher and higher. See Niall Ferguson's book "The Ascent of Money: A Financial History of the World," or the PBS.org tape that you can buy.

What we all need to do is invest all over the world and de-emphasize the USA. A top thinker on investments appeared on Consuelo Mack http:wealthtrack.com last week. On this week’s Consuelo Mack WealthTrack: successfully navigating Wall Street, investment strategy and stock picking with a man who has mastered all three. Consuelo goes in depth with “Financial Thought Leader” Bob Doll, BlackRock’s Vice Chairman, Global Chief Investment Officer, and manager of three highly respected large cap funds. http://wealthtrack.com/previous.php

He favors emerging markets index which I recently cut back on after 90% gains and investments largely outside the USA. He does not Real Estate. I increased my index holdings emphasizing office space recently too. My belief is that the major advisors tells us to invest in things they would like to unload. Otherwise for the next ten years or more, investments outside the USA is where the growth is. I would advise gradually increasing your overseas holdings and how gradual depends on you. It will be hard so if you can get an advisor to do it for you, you are probably better off. Avoid those who promise too much like Madoff did.

Remember it pays to be contrary but also riding out things when ordinary investors pile in when it is near the top based on what TV advisors are telling them! About 25 percent of my holdings are still in the USA in value stock indexes, but my advisor rebalances every quarter so I don't get the maximum uptick, but I increase safety. I tend to tolerate risk more than my advisors so I made up my own system of index funds.

You might consider the Vanguard world index where they do rebalance for you in investments all over the world or use ETF index funds to invest all over the world. Pros trade in these a lot so expect sharp upticks and downticks. Just stay in. But in the end, you need to read books as the ones by John C. Bogle, a former Vanguard chairman, "Enough: True Measures of Money, Business, and Life and "Unconventional Success" by David F. Swensen, the top Yale Fund advisor is quite good. Vanguard Funds are owned by the investors so fees are low, a very important consideration for a slow growth economy.

Elizabeth Warren of Harvard compiled some data of interest to everyone on Inflation Adjusted status of the Middleclass which I saw on the Dylan Ratigan show. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31510813/#35019924 Watch the whole show! Some of the Financial stars of CNBC won't appear on Ratigan's show because he knows too much and asks tough questions.

What happened between 1971 to 2007 to the Middleclass in Inflation Adjusted Dollars?

Inflation adjusted numbers show the tough time the Middleclass is having. With even more outrageous interest rates and minimum payments on credit cards, it is a wonder that we are surviving.

We pay 80% more on housing! (Borrowed so much on house equity that many more homeowners are in trouble.)

We pay 75% more on Health Insurance.

We pay 60% more on Automobiles.

We went from 50% on Fixed Expenses which are unavoidable to 75% to leave us with less disposable income!

Top One Percent got 24% of all income in the USA or 3 million or assuming four in a family, 750,000 families.

50% of total income in the bottom 50% of Americans or 150 million people., 37 million families.

What's the Matter With the Democrats? Post-Massachusetts Reflections on Popular Resentment, the Liberal-Left Vacuum, and Right Comeback

By Paul Street

... Last November 3rd, the Republicans took all of the top elected offices in Virginia's off-year election. The GOP expelled Democratic governor Jon Corzine in New Jersey. It repealed a gay marriage law in Maine.
And through it all the ratings of hard-right "paranoid-style"[1] radio and television personalities like Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and other demagogues of the FOX News variety have been sky high. The vapid and vicious proto-fascistic former Alaska governor Sarah Palin retains a fierce and stubborn base of support among millions of Americans who believe that Obama is advancing a "secret" socialist agenda and that the corporate media is owned and run by (of all things) "the left."
Meanwhile, the Anti-Defamation League reports that the number of right-wing paramilitary militias operating in the U.S. rose from 50 to 200 between 2007 and 2010.[2]
MSNBC talk show hosts Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann might portray the American right as a marginal collection of goofy tea-party kooks whose main role is to provide laughs for all-knowing liberals, but there is something much more significant going on.
THE MATERIAL BASIS OF MASS RESENTMENT
How did this happen? How could the seemingly discredited and even laughable right get so rejuvenated so quickly in the first year of the "liberal" Obama presidency?
There is deep and widespread anger and resentment across the land, There's nothing mysterious about the material basis of what the establishment media arrogantly dismisses as "populist rage." The official U.S. unemployment measure is over 10 percent, terrible enough though the real joblessness rate (including involuntarily part-time workers and the many millions of workers who have given up on the quest for employment) is over 17 percent.[3] One in four U.S. children now relies on Food Stamps. The foreclosure crisis continues, feeding mass homelessness.
There's nowhere to make an honest, family-supporting living for millions of U.S. (ex-) workers, stuck in a former manufacturing superpower whose corporate overlords have moved the lion's share of production offshore.(To give just one example among many: U.S. luggage producers account for less than 1 percent of the U.S. market, yet nearly every U.S. resident owns luggage[4]).
The top 1 percent of the U.S. population owns more than 40 percent of the nation's total net worth and closer to two thirds of its financial assets.
At least 92 million people - close to a third of the U.S. population - lives at less than 200 percent of the notoriously inadequate federal poverty level (currently $21,834 for a family of four).
Forty-five thousand Americans die each year in connection with their inability to obtain health insurance [5]- a curious commentary on life and death in "the world's greatest democracy," the only "modern" industrial-service economy state not to guarantee health care to its broad populace.
And while economic destitution and its terrible consequences (rising crime, incarceration, suicide, family dissolution and more) stalk the "homeland" even as television pundits speak positively of a Wall Street "recovery," the leading financial firms that caused the economic meltdown of 2008-2009 have benefited from massive federal bailouts to the degree that they have resumed giant, multi-billion dollar bonus packages. The federal government offers relatively little to ordinary working people but has recently passed the largest Pentagon budget (funded at more than $ 1 trillion per year) - a giant subsidy to the high tech corporate sector - in history and is presiding over an expensive five-front terror war in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Somalia, and Yemen.

In December, the nation's commander- in-chief announced (sounding amazingly Bush-like in West Point) that he will be deepening the country's massive and apparently endless investment in the unpopular "Af-Pak" quagmire. His "homeland" economic team is quarterbacked by the arrogant and authoritarian arch-neoliberal Larry Summers, a Goldman Sachs veteran and former Harvard president who callously privileges global finance capital's bottom line over and above job creation and manufacturing within the U.S.[6]

Noam Chomsky rightly sees this as a confirmation of the 18th century economist and philosopher Adam Smith's warning that "the architects of policy protect their own interests, no matter how grievous the effect on others." "And they are the architects of policy," Chomsky ads. "Obama made sure to staff his economic team with advisors from [the financial] sector."[7]

(Note Republicans make selective quotes for Smith's "Wealth of Nations", but ignore some extremely important caveats about uncontrolled Capitalism and free transfer of capital. The world trades 4 Trillion Dollars Daily with only 1 percent on commerce. Currency manipulation can be extremely lucrative. I hope President Obama has the guts to try to place a small tax on these transaction which would really help our deficits. Jim)

THE NOT-SO REACTIONARY PEOPLE
All of this is grossly contrary to the policy and social preferences of the majority of U.S. citizens, identical with the U.S. government in quaint democratic theory. The American people are nowhere nearly as reactionary as many middle class liberals I know insist. For what its worth (not all that much in America's corporate managed dollar democracy), popular U.S. attitudes on key policies and values have long stood well to the left of both of the two dominant U.S. political parties, the investor class, and the nation's "mainstream" (corporate) media. Contrary to pundits' routine description of the U.S. as a "center-right nation:"
* 71 percent of Americans think that taxes on corporations are too low (Gallup Poll, April 2007), 66 percent of Americans think taxes on upper-income people are too low (Gallup Poll, April 2007) and 62 percent believe corporations make too much profit (Pew Survey 2004).
* 77 percent of Americans think there is too much power concentrated in the hands of a few big companies (Pew Survey 2004), 84 percent think that big companies have too much power in Washington (Harris Poll 2007), and two-thirds think that "big business and big government work together against the people's interests" (Rasmussen Reports, 2009).
*A majority of American voters think that the United States' "most urgent moral question" is either "greed and materialism" (33 percent) or "poverty and economic injustice" (31 percent). Just 16 percent identify abortion and 12 percent pick gay marriage as the nation's "most urgent moral question" (Zogby, 2004). Thus, nearly two-thirds (64 percent) of the population think that injustice and inequality are the nation's leading "moral issues" (Katherine Adams and Charles Derber, The New Feminized Majority [Paradigm, 2008], p.72).
* Just 29 percent of Americans support the expansion of government spending on "defense." By contrast, 79 percent support increased spending on health care, 69 percent support increased spending on education, and 69 percent support increased spending on Social Security (Chicago Council on Foreign Relations [hereafter "CCFR"], "Global Views,"2004).
* 69 percent of Americans think it is the responsibility of the federal government to provide health coverage to all U.S. citizens (Gallup Poll, 2006) and 67 percent "think it's a good idea [for government] to guarantee health care for all U.S. citizens, as Canada and Britain do, with just 27 percent dissenting" (Business Week, 2005).
* 59 percent of Americans support a single-payer health insurance system (CBS/New York Times poll, January 2009) and 65 percent of Americans respond affirmatively to the following question: "Would you favor the government offering everyone a government-administered health insurance plan - something like the Medicare coverage that people 65 and over get - that would compete with private health insurance plans?" (CBS-New York Times, September 23, 2009)
From the polling data I've seen and from numerous heartland "voter contacts" and conversations I've had with "ordinary Americans" over the last few years. I suspect that a majority - or very close to it - of U.S. citizens would significantly agree with much of what Iraq occupation veteran Mike Prsyner recently said in a remarkable speech to Iraq Veterans Against the War:
"I threw families on to the street in Iraq only to come home and see families thrown on to the street in this county in this tragic, tragic and unnecessary foreclosure crisis. I mean to wake up and realize that our real enemies are not in some distant land. They're not people whose names we don't know and whose culture we don't understand. The enemy is people we know very well and people we can identify. The enemy is a system that wages war when it's profitable. The enemy is the CEOs who lay us off from our jobs when it's profitable. It's the insurance companies who deny us health care when it's profitable. It's the banks who take away our homes when it's profitable. Our enemy is not 5000 miles away. They are right here at home. If we organize with our sisters and brothers we can stop this war. We can stop this government. And we can create a better world." [8] ... http://www.zcommunications.org/znet/viewArticle/23720

Orchard Children. Companies Ignore Removing Toxic Chemicals in Water NY Times Charles Duhigg

December 16, 2009, Toxic Water Articles http://projects.nytimes.com/toxic-waters

Dee, a friend from Canada, sent me a poem on Wine suggesting an alternative to drinking water. Unfortunately many bottled water are either from the tap or not purified to remove more recently determined levels of toxic chemicals now permitted in drinking water.

Eugene water is about the best tasting and pure in the USA because of the source and purification procedures. I now skip bottled water and drink from the tap, but some of Oregon's Water does have problems with deadly perchlorate.

Even though West Virginia's mountain top coal mining is increasing cancer from the drinking water to a large number of residents, they plan to continue the practice of contaminating the drinking well water supply.

The December issue of The Atlantic Magazine does explain why the radical Republican types now in Congress so ruthlessly ignore human needs and wants for profit. The article discusses Orchid Children who have the gene that prevents them from processing serotonin so they are much more susceptible to environment.

Serotonin is the happy chemical and when we do not get enough we get depressed. They also need to take elevated risk-taking to feel alive, express aggression more often which can be advantageous in challenging situations such as wars, social strife of many kinds, and migrations to new environments.

My comment: The Scot-Irish who migrated to our country tend to populate the South and the Republican Party tended to be part of the Lowland Scots who had to be aggressive and paranoid to survive the many wars and privation. Orchid Children remain in the gene pool in modern civilization because if they have a safe environment and parents who do not abuse them and give them lots of love such as spending lots of time with them, I feel that epigenetic effects of shutting down or activating genes makes these individuals very important to our society and are often our leaders and very accomplished individuals. The book on the Scot-Irish by Senator James Webb who is Scot-Irish is fun to read and very informative.

The authoritarian method of bringing raising children with punishment and tough love is not the way to develop good children. Allowing babies who cry are left unintended by Orchid families develop poorly. Perhaps the more recent increase in problem children resulted from this neglect when both father and mother were forced to work to survive thanks to the Reagan legacy which took away from the Middle Class to enrich the rich further.

Hillary Clinton and her two brothers were brought up in this manner where the father may not have resorted to physical violence, but continually criticized them. Only Hillary fought back at an early age which made her the favorite and he spent lots of time in the afternoon by coming home early from his business and taking her fishing and teaching her how to play baseball. Her mother also spent lots of time with her to train her about how life could be very tough based on her mother's experience and how to cope.

Her brothers were quite smart too, and one became a physician, but failed at that too. Even though the Clintons kicked the father out of the White House, Hillary spent 19 days and nights at the hospital attending to his father who finally died.

Obama's experience with his mother's nurturing and later with his grandmother and grandfather gave him the confidence to make use of his full potential. Obama spent a lot of time reading to his children including all of the Harry Potter books! Even though it does not look that way now, Obama will come through on healthcare and seems to be on his way to doing something about Global Warming.

If your friends are thinking about voting for Radical Republicans, I will be glad to give them the accurate history of the Republican Party, especially the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld Gang and rampant incompetence and corruption.

Bush, Jr, Administration Threatened to Fire EPA Scientists who Talk about Contaminates in Water

... But when E.P.A. scientists produced assessments indicating those chemicals were more toxic — the first step in setting a standard for perchlorate and tougher standards for the other two substances — businesses fought back by lobbying lawmakers and regulators and making public attacks.

Military contractors, for example, said that regulations on perchlorate, which has been associated with stunted central nervous system development, would cost them billions of dollars in cleanup costs. In 2003, an Air Force colonel, Daniel Rogers, called an E.P.A. assessment of the chemical “biased, unrealistic and scientifically imbalanced.” Military officials told E.P.A. scientists they were unpatriotic for suggesting that bases were contaminated, according to people who participated in those discussions.

Property owners who had rented space to dry cleaners lobbied lawmakers and top E.P.A. officials to remove government scientists from research on perc, which has been associated with some kinds of tumors, according to interviews with lobbyists. (Trichloroethylene has been associated with liver and kidney damage and cancer.)

Soon, Dr. Preuss was told by some superiors that he might be dismissed if he continued pushing for extensive assessments of certain chemicals, he said. ... http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/17/us/17water.html?_r=1&em=&pagewanted=all

Excerpt NY Times Article Deadly Drinking Water
... Only 91 contaminants are regulated by the Safe Drinking Water Act, yet more than 60,000 chemicals are used within the United States, according to Environmental Protection Agency estimates. Government and independent scientists have scrutinized thousands of those chemicals in recent decades, and identified hundreds associated with a risk of cancer and other diseases at small concentrations in drinking water, according to an analysis of government records by The New York Times.

But not one chemical has been added to the list of those regulated by the Safe Drinking Water Act since 2000.

Other recent studies have found that even some chemicals regulated by that law pose risks at much smaller concentrations than previously known. However, many of the act’s standards for those chemicals have not been updated since the 1980s, and some remain essentially unchanged since the law was passed in 1974.

All told, more than 62 million Americans have been exposed since 2004 to drinking water that did not meet at least one commonly used government health guideline intended to help protect people from cancer or serious disease, according to an analysis by The Times of more than 19 million drinking-water test results from the District of Columbia and the 45 states that made data available. ...

In Millville, N.J., Pleasantville, N.J., and Edmond, Okla., drinking water has contained traces of uranium, which can cause kidney damage. Those concentrations also did not violate the law. (Contaminant records for each of the 47,500 water systems that provided data are at nytimes.com/contaminants.) ...

“If it doesn’t violate the law, I don’t really pay much attention to it,” said Stephen Sorrell, executive director of Emerald Coast Utilities Authority, which serves Pensacola, Fla. Data show that his system has delivered water containing multiple chemicals at concentrations that research indicates are associated with health risks. The system has not violated the Safe Drinking Water Act during the last half-decade. ...

Communities where the drinking water has contained chemicals that are associated with health risks include Scottsdale, Ariz.; El Paso, Tex., and Reno, Nev. Test results analyzed by The Times show their drinking water has contained arsenic at concentrations that have been associated with cancer. But that contamination did not violate the Safe Drinking Water Act. ...
Those two chemicals have been detected in drinking water in more than a dozen states, including California, Massachusetts, New York and Oregon. A study published last week by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found traces of perchlorate in every person examined by researchers.

A Department of Defense official, who asked not to be named because of the sensitivities regarding perchlorate, said the military’s perspective on the chemical had changed since 2005, and it now deferred to the E.P.A.’s assessments. Colonel Rogers did not reply to e-mail messages and calls seeking comment.

“We need action,” said Senator Barbara Boxer, a California Democrat and chairwoman of the Environment and Public Works Committee, which oversees the Safe Drinking Water Act. “E.P.A. has the authority to set new standards, but it wasn’t used over the last eight years. There are people at risk.” ... http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/17/us/17water.html?_r=1&em=&pagewanted=all

A glass of wine ..........
To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine...
And those who don't and are always
seen with a bottle of water in their hand.
As Ben Franklin said:
In wine there is wisdom,
In beer there is freedom,
In water there is bacteria.
In a number of carefully controlled trials,
Scientists have demonstrated that if we drink
1 litre of water each day,
At the end of the year we would have absorbed
More than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. Coli) - bacteria
Found in feces.
In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop..
However,
We do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer
(or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor)
Because alcohol has to go through a purification process
Of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.
Remember:
Water = Poop,
Wine = Health.
Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid,
Than to drink water and be full of shit.
There is no need to thank me for this valuable information:
I'm doing it as a public service!
