Elaine & Joel,
Thanks for sending info on the lies by the Republicans who prefer to destroy Medicare so Healthcare Corporations have more customers at a high price for only healthy seniors.
Republican leader Roy Blunt (R-MO) who is now running against Robin Carnahan (D-MO) for Senate in Missouri announced in late July that Republicans will not submit an alternative Healthcare Plan! He basically announced our goal is stop a reform of Healthcare to prevent Healthcare for "Profit" corporations from denying you healthcare when you really need it! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#32380712
The Rachel Maddow Show TRMS gave us proof that the shouting matches at the Democrats trying to explain healthcare reform is a deliberate attempt by Republicans and Healthcare Corporations to prevent an effective healthcare reform bill from passing. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#32380712 9 minutes, but even watching it for 2 minutes is very informative.
They are trying to target Seniors because they already supported McCain by 53% in November. They are also more fearful of losing Medicare benefits. So they are deliberately lying to the public via 60 Plus fake lobbing groupt that claims to represent seniors, but whose chief purpose is to scare seniors. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#32380719 3 minutes.
Remember that the anti-healthcare reform group is from lobbyist group supported by Republicans and Heathcare Companies who fear losing profits by no longer being able to reject people who have pre-existing health problems such as high blood pressure or if you forget to include going to the doctor for acne which have no relevance to your current health problem so they can drop you immediately with no appeal.
Rachel Maddow http://rachel.msnbc.com is the best place to go to find out about groups not really interested in giving seniors and others better healthcare for the same or even less money as shown by #1 Healthcare company The Mayo Clinic.
Last night I watched Senator Benjamin Cardin (D-Maryland) C-SPAN http://c-span.org/Watch/Media/2009/08/12/HP/R/22048/Town+Halls+Continue+Despite+Conflicts+with+Protesters.aspx (1.5 hours) and others. Cardin was the most impressive by far. The questions Cardin got were prepared professionally prepared objections to the Democratic bills still in progress or I suspect lobbyists for Healthcare corporations. He had a huge audience at a high school which tends to limit individual comments because the background noise prevents them from being heard so they had to go to the microphone, the same as President Obama's audience. Even if you watch just a few minutes which has heathcare disasters with the current system. Obama's people helped her get treatment for her two year old child.
Dylan Ratigan in the Morning Show 9-11 AM ET and 6-8 AM PT http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/32374931#32374931 interviewed the senior who went ballistic at Senator Spector's (D-Penn) town hall meeting. He was unable to answer any of the questions by Dylan and just had rambling soundbites which he was reading. I doubt that anyone could understand Craig Miller's point even though he was reading from a list which may have been prepared by healthcare lobbyists. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/32386333#32386333 He was from a district that voted for McCain.
